A Partial List of What Preschoolers Can Learn from Scripture

About God the Father

  • God is all-powerful, the creator, compassionate, eternal, everywhere, glorious, holy, and just. He knows everything, is loving, merciful, perfect, righteous, sovereign, and truth. He is wisdom and is more than we can fully understand.(Gn.1:1; Lv.11:44-45; Job 38-41; Ps.139; Pr.1:7; Jn. 3:16, 33; 2 Pt.1:3; 1 Jn.5:20; 1 Th. 1:9; Rv. 4:8, 15:3-4; 16:7; 19:6)
  • God made me and knows what is best for me. (Gn. 1-2; Rm. 8:37-39)
  • God is holy and therefore hates sin and cannot allow sin in His presence. (Gn. 3)
  • God loves me and wants me to come to Him for salvation through His Son Jesus. (Mt. 11:28-30; Jn. 3:16)
  • God draws me to Himself and forgives me when I come to Him and repent, beginning with salvation. (Acts 2:38-39)

About Jesus, God's Son

  • Jesus is God's perfect and only Son. He is eternal. (Jn. 1:1-3, 14; Col. 2:9)
  • As the God-Man, Jesus loves us and shows us about God. (Phil. 2:6-7)
  • Jesus Christ is pure and sinless. He loves us and wants us to come to Him. (Heb. 4:15; 1 Pt. 2:22-23; 1 Jn.3:5; Mt. 19:14)
  • Jesus provided salvation when He died on the cross and rose again to pay for my sin. (Rm 3:24; 2 Cor 5:21; Eph 1:1; Tit 2:14; 1 Pt 2:24)
  • Jesus now lives in Heaven with God. Jesus will return to receive believers to Himself. (Acts 1:9-11)
  • Jesus will rule over God’s kingdom. (Acts 10:36; Phil. 2:9-11; Rv. 17:14)
  • 400+ names for Jesus such as in John: Bread of Life 6:35, Lamb of God 1:36, Light of the World 8:12, the Good
  • Shepherd 10:10, the Vine 15:1, etc. and each tells us something important about His character and nature. (Rv. 19:16)

About God, the Holy Spirit

  • The Holy Spirit is eternal. (Jn. 4:24)
  • The Holy Spirit gives us the power to believe God. (Acts 1:8)
  • The Holy Spirit teaches us about God and draws us to God. (Acts 1:8)
  • The Holy Spirit indwells and guides believers (Jn. 16:5-15).

About the Bible

  • The Bible is God’s Word, with sixty-six books, which are all true. (Jn. 1:1; 2 Tm. 3:16; 3 Jn. 12; Rv. 21:15; 22:6-7)
  • The Bible tells about God the Father, His Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. (Gn. 1:1-2; Jn. 1:1-3, 14)
  • The Bible tells me what is right and what is wrong. (Heb. 4:12)
  • God talks to me through the Bible and gives us all things that pertain to life and godliness. (Jos. 1:8, 1 Pt. 1:3)

About the Church

  • God's church is God's people who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ. (Eph. 5:23)
  • God has instructed His people to assemble together to encourage one another. (Heb. 12:4)
  • The purpose of the church is to glorify God. (Eph. 3:21; 5:23, 27; Rv. 19:7-9)
  • God has given the church special gifts to help His people work for Him. (Rm. 12)
  • One way we learn about God is through the church. (2 Cor. 8:18)
  • Meeting together is not always a happy time. Sometimes we are sorrowful over sin. (Jer. 2:22; Rm. 8:7-8)

About His Home

  • God placed me in my home with my relatives, and I can be a helper there. (Ps. 139; Mt. 20:25-28)
  • God wants me to obey my parents and those He has placed over me. (Eph. 6:1-2)
  • God wants me to love and care for my family.
  • Jesus is preparing a future home for me in heaven.

About Pleasing God

  • I am a sinner, separate from God and cannot please Him in any way. (Ps. 1:5; Rm. 3:23)
  • God wants me to confess my sin. (1 Jn. 1:9)
  • God wants me to come to Him in repentance for salvation. (Ez. 18:32; Mt. 3:7-8; Mk. 2:17; Acts 3:19, 17:30, 26:20)
  • God wants me to turn from idols (anything other than God) and love and obey Him. (Ex. 20:12; Is. 55:7; Dt. 4-6)
  • God will give me a way to escape temptation. (1 Cor. 10:13)
  • God wants me to become more like Him each day. (Lk. 9:23, 62; Jn. 12:26; 2 Pt. 1:3-4)
  • God wants me to show His love to everyone in what I do and say. (Mt. 22:39; 1 Cor. 13)
  • God wants me to display the fruit of the Spirit. (Gal. 5:22-23)
  • I can sing and talk about God. (Col. 3:16)

About Reaching Others with the Gospel 

  • God loves all the children in the world, but God is also holy, righteous, and just. (Lv. 11:44-45)
  • Some do not know about God's love, holiness and justice. (Pr. 29:18)
  • I can tell friends and neighbors about God's love, holiness, and justice. (Jn. 4:35-38)
  • I can pray for missionaries who tell people about God's love, holiness, and justice. (Eph. 6:18-20; Col. 1:3-12, 4:2-4)
  • I can give money to help tell other children about God's love, holiness, and justice. (1 Cor. 9:4-14; 2 Cor. 9:7)
